Every year Indian Navy celebrates the Navy day on the 4th of December to commemorate a brilliantly choreographed and courageous attack on the Karachi harbour during the Indo-Pak war of 1971. A host of activities are organised as a part of the Navy week and various themes have been used over the years and this year the aim is to promote the spirit of healthy living amongst the citizens. This year a half marathon has been planned with an emphasis on the physical fitness and healthy living for a globally rising nation as part of the Navy week. The aims of the event are promotions of healthy lifestyle amongst citizens and cement the symbiosis between the armed forces and the civil society.
The Indian Navy Half Marathon will be conducted in three categories i.e. Aircraft Carrier Run (21.097km), Destroyer Run (10km) and Frigate Run (5km). The event is open to people hailing from all age groups and all parts of the country (Civil as well as Armed Forces Personnel). Attractive prizes would be announced to the winners and each participant completing half marathon will be presented with a medallion. All participants will be presented with a certificate signifying their participation in the event. The marathon will conclude at scenic of Bandra Kurla Complex. More than winning, it’s the participation that is the assured reward for this half marathon and commemorates the nation’s victory in 1971 war by running shoulder to shoulder with the ‘Men & Women in Whites’, along with the vast expanse of Bandra Kurla Complex.
